The appointee will join a new interdisciplinary research project:
"From the
Neuron to the Self: human nature and the new cognitive
neurosciences". The
successful applicant will conduct independent research as well as
research
within the project team and may be involved in supervision of research
students and research training.
Essential Selection Criteria:
. PhD in Philosophy, Psychology, Cognitive Science, Neuroscience or
related discipline;
. demonstrated skills and experience in making connections between
philosophy and the cognitive neurosciences;
. experience in collaborative research activity, and such activities
as grant-writing and involvement in planning and coordinating
international
workshops.
Desirable Selection Criteria:
. Expertise in research on explanation in the cognitive neurosciences;
. expertise in research on either agency or emotion and moral
reasoning or memory;
. capacity for supervision of Honours and Higher Degree Research
students.

Package: from $79,303 pa, including (Level B) base salary $67,012 to
$79,463 pa, including annual leave loading and 17% employer's
superannuation.
This appointment is currently governed by the terms of the Macquarie
University Enterprise Agreement 2006-2009. The successful applicant
will be
offered the choice of an Australia Workplace Agreement for this
appointment.
