Influence of processing on texture, functionality and nutritional value of diets for animals and companion species

BBSRC Doctoral CASE Award (Dodson and Horrell)

Project: The project will provide an opportunity to understand the quality aspects of feeds (physico-chemical, chemical and biochemical) in terms of the manufacturing process. Additional multidisciplinary aspects include nutritional evaluation and economic assessments arising from industrial scale manufacturing. The successful applicant will have a background in the Animal / Food / Nutritional Sciences, will learn to manage complex situations and will supervise others. Although the project addresses animal feeds, the principles and many of the methods are directly applicable to human foods.
