University of Ulster Research Studentship in Marine Ecology
Applications are invited for a research studentship in Marine Ecology, investigating monitoring methods for assessing change in seabed habitats.
The closing date for receipt of completed applications is 23rd September 2007 Interviews will be held during first week in October 2007.
Measuring change in seabed habitats in marine Special Areas of Conservation (SACs) is necessary to determine if the conservation status of a particular area is changing. This research project is funded through Environment and Heritage Service and will focus on assessing and developing monitoring methods for measuring changes in benthic habitats in SACs. The Research project will assess the utility of a range of survey methods (e.g. underwater video mosaics, acoustic surveys, grab sampling) and will involve a mixture of field- and lab-based studies. Scuba diving experience would be beneficial but not essential.
If you wish to discuss the project please contact: Dr. Craig Brown (c.brown2@ulster.ac.uk) or Dr. Rory Quinn (rj.quinn@ulster.ac.uk).
