Post-Doctoral Associate, Chimpanzee Population Genetics
A post-doctoral associate to be based in the Department of Biological
Sciences at the University at Albany-State University of New York is
sought to work on the genetic history of chimpanzees.
The post doc will be expected to contribute evolutionary/population
genetics expertise to the project, in collaboration with other team
members. Required expertise includes a thorough knowledge of
molecular methods relevant to population genetics (e. g., DNA
extraction, PCR amplification, cloning,high throughput sequencing,
multiplex SNP analysis and fragment-size analysis, development of
molecular markers (microsatellites, SNPs)). Expertise is also
expected in the use of relevant statistical software and the analysis
of large multi-locus genetic data sets. The post-doc will be
encouraged to pursue his/her own ideas and projects.
The post doc will join the lab of Dr. Katy Gonder in the Department
of Biological Sciences at the University at Albany State University
of New York. The initial appointment will be for one year with the
possibility of renewal. Salary and benefits are competitive.

Qualifications/Experience:
The candidate should hold a Ph.D. and have demonstrated experience in
the theories and methodologies of evolutionary genetics, population
genetics and phylogeography. Degrees must be from a college or
university accredited by a US Department of Education or
internationally recognized accrediting organization.
