Postdoctoral Position
Behavioral Ecology of Small Mammals
Miami University
A postdoctoral research associate position is available in the Department of Zoology,
Miami University to work under the direction of Dr. Nancy G. Solomon and Dr. Brian Keane
on research related to the social and genetic effects on reproduction in rodents. Funding
is available for a comparative study on reproduction in rodents with intraspecific
variation in the social and / or genetic mating systems. Individuals with experience or
interest in the relationship between genes and mating systems / sexual selection in
rodents are particularly encouraged to apply as are individuals with skills in small
mammals trapping, radiotelemetry and possibly molecular techniques used to determine
parentage and relatedness. I would prefer someone with field experience with small
mammals and experience in supervising a field crew. A Ph.D. is required
Miami University is a state-assisted liberal education university located 40 miles north
of Cincinnati and has a current enrollment of 17,000 students. The department of Zoology
has 34 faculty, approximately 60 graduate students and 4 post-doctoral research

This is a one-year appointment with the potential for renewal for a second year
contingent on funding and satisfactory performance.. Start date is somewhat flexible and
could begin as early as May 2004. The annual salary is ~$32,500 plus full benefits
including health and dental coverage.. Start date is flexible and could begin as early as
May 2007. The annual stipend is $32,500 plus fringe benefits.
