PhD-position Ethology and farm animal environment
A three year doctoral fellowship in ethology and farm environment is available at the Norwegian University of Life Sciences, Department of Animal and Aquacultural Sciences.
The project is financed by the Norwegian Research Council and the title of the project is: “Farrowing environment and the impact on piglet survival and sow-piglet interactions”.
The focus will be on factors related to farrowing pens for loose-housed sows and the impact on piglet mortality, maternal behaviour of the sow and sow-piglet interactions.
The candidate will have an international group of supervisors. We are searching for candidates with a higher education, Master of Science or an equivalent degree, with the main focus on ethology.
Candidates with background in farm animal environment and with relevant experience from experimental work will be preferred. The ability to collaborate as well as having a lot of own initiative would be important personal skills.
The PhD research education will follow the legislations at the Norwegian University of Life Sciences, and the candidate would have to finish the whole PhD-work, including the courses within a period of three years. Payment will be at Norwegian standards, ie salary level 41 (NOK 310 700/year).
Increases in salary will be according to seniority rights.
